WHY Does Win ME Research for Hardware After a Flash BIOS Upgrade?
Whenever I flash my BIOS, it seems that Windows ME wants to re-search for new motherboard hardware EVEN THOUGH I have NOT made any changes to my registry or hardware configuration. Why is this? I thought that it first checks the registry to see if the device exists and if it does, then it doesn't check. Is there something else telling it to do this? Does it create a new device profile when it does this (i.e. deletes the old devices from the current device list and adds the new one)? Is there a way to STOP this from happening when flashing the BIOS?
Thanks,
Tony
