Sound Problems
For whatever reason yesterday, my previously fine computer audio-wise no longer played any type of audio. The computer acts as if everything is working fine. Songs will play, etc. Yet, no audio comes through to the speakers. I have tried different speakers. Everything is plugged in properly. The computer recognizes that there are speakers. Yet, there is no audio. I gather from the forums that I must have a sound card problem. I downloaded that Everest program so I can give you whatever info is needed.
For now, I will say that I use Windows XP Home Edition with SP 2. I have a Dell Dimension 4500S with Intel Pentium 4 Motherboard 1800 mhz.
My "audio adapter" is Intel 82801DB ICH4 - AC`97 Audio Controller A-1
My soundcard is SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio.
All of the sound cards and such are working properly according to the computer. I really would like to know where I should turn now. I appreciate any help you all can provide for me. Thank you.
