Need front panel audio connector help
I can't figure out how to connect the old
front panel audio connections to a new motherboard.
The front panel has a mic and headphone jack.
The old mobo was an Imperial GL VE
The new Mobo is an Asus P4V8X-MX
The new mobo uses a standard intel 10-1 pin audio
(1)Mic 2...............(2)Agnd
(3)Micpwr............(4)+5VA
(5)Line_out_R......(6)BLine_out_R
(7)NC.................(8)No pin
(9)Line_out_L.......(10)BLine_out_L
Case = eMachines T1742 two sets 3(4)-wire connectors unmarked
(set1) headphones(3) = red, thick black, yellowish orange
(set2) Mic(4) =red, Thick Black, no connector, yellow
The mobo came with jumpers at positions 5:6 and 9:10,
to route the audio to the back port for speakers.
If I remove these, I won't get speaker sound.
Can someone help me determine which wire goes where?
I have tried to do enough research to determine the configuration,
I am thinking the fat black wires are ground, but I'm not 100% certain,
also I'm thinking I should be able to attach the left and right to pins 5&6 and 9&10 to maintain front and rear headphone&speaker usage.
I defiantly would like some reassurance a second opinion before I try it and short something.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
