Pioneer DVR-710 problems
My system:
Dell Dimenson 4600
P4 2.66 GHz
1.5 GB RAM
Windows XP
A while back I installed an LG CD writter as a second drive and it works fine. Recently I purchased a Pioneer DVR-710 DVD writter. I replaced the original drive with the Pioneer, so now I have that and the LG. The drive is WHQL (Microsoft Windows Hardware Qualification Lab) qualified, which means it does not need any special drivers and should just "plug and play." The drive shows up in Windows which says that the device is working properly.
When I put in the Nero CD that came with the drive nothing happens, when I open "My Computer" and double click on the drive with the disc in there I get this message: "D:\ is not a valid Win32 application."
When I put in a DVD+R with some pictures on it autoplay runs and lets me choose an application to open it with. When I open it in Windows explorer it displays the folders and files, but it runs really slow and will not load the files.
Has anyone had a problem like this before? Is it a problem with the drive, the dell computer, or windows?
