Dialup access to Windows NT 4.0
Does anyone know of an incompatibility issue with a Windows 98 PC dialing into a Windows NT server? The server has SP4 applied, and Windows 95 machines are able to dial in and log on. They also map drives and access data from the server. However, there's one Windows 98 machine that will not connect no matter what I try. It seems to be getting past the password authentication, but then drops the connection saying that it was unable to negotiate a compatible set of protocols. NetBEUI is selected on both the server and the workstation, and the workstation has NetBEUI installed and configured. In the modem log, it is saying that the remote modem (server) is dropping the connection. Also, the server is configured to use Microsoft encryption, and the Windows 98 PC is set to encrypt data and password. The next step would be to try it with any encryption on the server including clear text, but since the machines are 35 miles apart, I'd like to have some concrete ideas before I start driving back and forth again.
Thanks in advance for any ideas. Don't worry about covering the dumb stuff, I could've overlooked anything (-:
