A friend brought a computer over, he wanted me to show him how to put in the extra ram he bought. He said the computer was running slow, and was told more ram would speed it up. ( he only had 1gig so we put in another two )After we installed the ram we fired up the computer only to find that it was taking forever to load even with the extra ram. Even after it finished loading there was continuous hard drive activity so I did a complete virus scan and found nothing, I even hooked the drive up to my computer scaned it that way and still nothing. So then I went to Software Explorer in Windows Defender and removed all unnecessary startup programs. That greatly sped up Windows Vista’s loading time but there was still a lot of hard drive activity and CPU usage. So I went to Resource Monitor to see what was going on, and there I found two processes that were using the CPU’s resources the most, and they where

Svchost.exe (netsvcs) Host process for Windows Service
Svchost.exe (LocalSystemNetworkRestricted) Host process for Windows Service

After about 10 or 15 minutes and a lot hard drive and CPU usage things settle down and the computer begins to behave normally. I know it’s not the antivirus program because I have set it to scan early in the morning. Can some one give me a hand here and get this computer under control.
Oh by the way the OS is Vista SP 1.
