    32 or 64 bit windows 7

    I am repairing a friends lap top and I will need back up software. His drive finally quit But I did not find out soon enough. In xp 4 gigs of ram I read would not see all 4 gigs with 32 bit but will with 64 bit
    I am using 7 Is it also if not 64 bit 32 will not see 4 gigs ram? Processor is AMD Phenom X2 dual core P860 tricore.



    I found out by Google 32 bit 7 only see`s 3 gig. So what I need is 64 bit
