Network config questions
Hi,
A client of mine has a windows 7 pro 64bit machine that acts as a file server in an office with 11 computers
I was asked by a security company to create a password for each user to access the shared folder and that it should be replaced after 90 days.
I created 11 users with passwords on the win7 "server" via netplwiz, Configured them as normal users and set the permissions for the set folder and in advanced network settings (turn on passwoprd).
It's a mixed environment of xp and win7 machines.
I unchecked "password never expires" and in the group policy editor set the maximum age of password to 90 days.
now my questions are :
1. when the 90 day deadline will get close, I understand that windows will notify 5 days before the deadline that password needs to be changed, So if password is changed in the workstation and not on server, After the password change, the workstation would not be able to access the server shared folder - unless password will also be changed on the server local account for that specific user. How do i prevent that from happening ?
2. I get an error message on the windows 7 clients upon logon that "username or password is not correct", But then when i enter them manually it does logon to the desktop. how can I prevent that message ? (in netplwiz it is checked "user must enter password")
3. Since I created 11 accounts in the "server", It's logon screen is filled with icon for each user i've created, Which is lame. Can I make only one account appear in the logon screen while keeping all the accounts intact ?
Thank you
