Gremlins Exist!
Further to my previous vent, get this:
I've had to deal with a load of SULFNBK hoax victims today, but one guy came in, tod me he had a virus, and asked me to sort it out.
I started to restore SULFNBK.exe, and he asked me what I was doing. I explained, and he said "No, not that stupid Hoax, watch", and pointed at the screen.
Within 30 seconds, something happened that I have never seen before.
In the bottom right corner of the screen, a small image appeared, kinda like the sheep that you can get that dive bombs your desktop, but shaped like a green PacMan. It went around the desktop and "ate" all the icons. At first, I thought it was funny, and started to explain, but when I restarted the system, the directories that he had shortcuts to on his desktop had been deleted, and My Documents had been wiped.
Norton didn't pick up anything, so I'm guessing its just a nasty trojan, but how horrible is that? I was $**tting kittens for about half an hour when I realised that it was on his network user area... No harm done though.
