WIN98 RAM discrepancy...is this normal/ok?
Hey team,
So i'm adding ram to this machine, the BIOS is counting it up right, but windows shorts me!
ABIT kt7a-raid board
Tried different sticks/configs as well
512 shows in windows as 511
768 shows in windows as 765
so is this normal for 98 or should i be concerned.
Thanks gurus!

Were you the one asking this in the chat room the other day? I looked it up and this what I got. I think it explains it better than I could.
Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

most motherboards offer an option to leave a 1 meg memory hole, i believe it's between 15-16 meg ranges. this was originally designed for ISA compatibility, and even though ISA is long gone in most computers the bios's still offer to leave a memory hole.
i have a asus cusl2 based on the intel 815e chipset. i think the 815 chipset doesn't even support isa, but i still have that memory hole option in the bios.
anyways, check in your bios for this and disable it if it's there
