Business card CDs

I've got a friend who wants to make a little presentation and put it on those little business card CDs to give out to people.

I haven't the slightest idea where to get these CDs and if you can burn them with a regular CD-R drive or what the deal is. Anyone out there in techieville have any idea?

I noticed that a company I ordered from recently (QTCCDR.com) had the blank media for business card style CD blnks. I do not know if standard CD-RW's will write them. My guess is that they would. The CD tray has a smaller recessed area, the size of the smaller cd's. At least my TDK VeloCD does.

Just a word to the wise...

The "business card" CD-R's ( or regular CD's for that matter ) will not always be recognized when put into a CD-ROM drive. The reasoning behind this is that the laser does not see a disc when it first turns on, so it does not read the CD-ROM. If you experience this problem, reposition the business card CD so that it is directly above the laser and try again. This usually is not a problem in laptops because the CD-ROMs that come with most laptops are designed differntly. If you have ever used a CD-ROM on a laptop, you know what I mean. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Failed to mention that I have also seen the business card CD-R's being sold @ Fry's Electronics here in Texas. I rarely shop at real stores anymore, but you might want to check your local computer/ electronics store to see if they carry the business card CD-R's. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

They specialize in mini and business card CD-R. They have both the standard 'cropped circle' discs and the true square discs. They also have the labels and sleeves.

I have several of the black "playstation" cd-r's. I have heard that these cd-r's are much more resilient and can withstand much more abuse than standard CD-R's. Supposedly that is why sony uses them. Only problem i see with them is that it takes a little longer for cd players ( music cd players ) to recognize or read the cd. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

FYI: I've seen a lot of 'killed' cd-rom units ...usually after someone uses those little discs ...<shrug>

Theres also a special printer you can get which has a movable tray to hold the CDR whilst printing directly onto them.
