One suggestion if you can use third party products for this research.
Two seperate partitions for each OS and use System Commander to switch between both.
You get the added advantage of being able to add other OSes as needed. You can even get TuboLinux and StarOffice with it now.

If you have an OS one one already then just insert the other Os in the CD ROM and install it to the other Hard Drive.
This worked when I dual booted win 2k to my second drive.
I'm not positive if this works for Win 95 so wait on comments for the other Members.

I don't think it really matters. put the one that you will use mostly as the first partition.

somewhat important note:
use win98 for the primary partition, as some versions of 95 don't support fat32.
can't format the other partition if you can't see it.

This works when you are dual-booting a NT-grade OS (like 2000) with a 9x-grade OS (like Windows 95). However, you cannot dual boot 95 and 98 on the same machine even on seperate physical hard drives without a third-party utility like System Commander. This is because when you install 95/98/ME it overwrites the master boot record which is located in the boot sector of the primary partition on the HDD which is the Master drive on your primary IDE controller. You would be able to get 95 installed ok, but once you installed 98, it would overwrite the MBR and only boot to 98. It would not matter which physical drive or partition you installed these OS's on because it would always boot to 98.

Yes I use system commander and in fact have a dual booted 95/98 system at home now. Send me an E-mail at [email protected] and i will get back to you. Tell me what you want to do etc. I'm at work and a little busy right at the moment.
