Problems? intel ultra ATA storage driver 6.0
I have been going back and forth with intel regarding it's Ultra ATA storage driver 6.0
ASUS CUSL2
BIOS cusl101a
All windows
i815 chipset
2 ATA/66/ hard drive PRI, master/slave DMA4
1 Tashiba 1212 DVD SEC, master DMA2
1 HP 9100i CDR/RW SEC, slave DMA2
This includes ATA/100 drives
And also includes other DVD's and CDR/RW drives
Problem is, is that the intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver 6.0 is disabling ether the DVD or the CDR/RW drives or both
It does not matter what burner program is used.
Is anyone else having this problem? Intel needs to know your setup! You can POST here in the Intel Forum; http://intelforums.com/cgi-bin/WebX.fcgi?13@@.ee70622
Also Win2K is having problems handling ATA/100 drives, here is the link to Microsoft on the subject; http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q260/2/33.asp
Another note: ASUS pulled the BIOS update to the CUSL2, (cusl1002)

I'm using an ABIT SE6 with the Intel ATA100 v6 drivers and an IBM 20Gb ATA100 drive with a Yamaha 8424ez IDE burner all on W2k with no problems.

this is a post from INTEL support
"This post is taken from one posted a few days ago. Please send any
issues involving IDE devices and the Intel(R) Ultra ATA Storage Driver
to me directly at [email protected]. Please include the
report.txt if possible and a list of your system devices or the
information requested in the form at http://support.intel.com/support/chi...ltraATA/ss.htm
Include whether the issue is corrected by uninstalling the driver.
I will be please to help you further with this information. Awaiting
your reply."
"For those customers reporting issues with CD-RW devices and the Intel®
Ultra ATA Storage Driver, we are continuing our investigation into this
issue using many different motherboards, IDE/ATAPI devices, system
configurations, operating systems, etc. Due to the many variables with
an issue of this type, this process may take some time. I will continue
to post any new or updated information regarding this issue. For those
experiencing issues, please be sure that the latest version of the
motherboard BIOS is installed and that you have tried the optimum IDE
configuration for your system. In most cases, the optimum configuration
is to have the HDD on the Primary Channel, the CD-ROM and DVD devices on
the Secondary Channel (using the faster of these devices as the Master),
and the CD-RW slaved to the HDD on the Primary Channel. Thank you for
your patience and the information you have supplied as we continue our
investigation."
