I have a AMD K6 233mhz with 80 megs of ram running Redhat 7.1. I also have a hard time with the rpm's because you download one and it says you have to have two more. It feels like you are going in circles. I am still a newbie at Linux, but learning fast. I want to try Mandrake, being on dialup kills that idea for downloading it. Hopefully the cable company will hurry up with the broadband.

I have an older Aptiva box (K6-2 500Mhz/128M RAM) that is running Corel Linux that I use as a Samba file-server and as an HL Counterstrike Server for LAN games at home. Runs like a dream, but it just takes more time to figure stuff out on it.
Picked Corel Linux because the install was real easy!
