Can you see other non-printer shares on the 2000 machine? This may help to narrow the problem down a bit...

    Update:

No I could not see other shares, after searching microsoft for awhile I came across an article "Configuring Windows 2000 Professional to work in a peer to peer Workgroup" anyways, it turned out to be that the ME machine had ipx/spx installed (along with netbuei, and tcp/ip) but the 2000 machine didnt have ipx/spx installed, removed it from the ME machine rebooted and presto all the shares showed up on the WinME machine, so hopefully this info will help others out as well, who would have thought, it couldnt use one of the other protocols that were installed as well, hmmmmmmm

i've fixed this many times, go into windows 2000 and make an account for example "printer" and use a password like "printer" or whatever

then log into that on the win9x/me box, and all is well in the world, angels will sing and champagne will fall from the heavens
