Post Windows ME and Diamond MX300

I cannot for the life of me seem to get my Windows ME system to install my Diamond MX300 sound card. I downloaded the vary latest drivers for the card (which were designed for Windows 98) and tried installing those. It locks up cold everytime it trys to install the "Diamond Multi-Function Parent Device". I then have to go back, restore the system to an earilier time, and see if I could try anyhting else differently. I have been in touch with Diamond, which is actually now S3, for about a month now and they finally concluded that it was my motherboard chipset that is causing the problem. But here's the kicker, it worked just fine under Windows 98 and also works fine under Windows 2000. I don't know anymore. Hopefully someone somewhere will be able to help me out.

As I understand it, most of the Win2k drivers were WDM drivers, which should in theory work under ME. It it worth a shot at.

I tried what you said, but it didn't work unfortunately. I really don't know what to do now. Maybe I'll just be forced to exchange it at my local retailer for something that works.
