How Many Computers on The System YOU Maintain?
I recently took on the job of "Technology Mechanic" at a relatively small school, with an NT4 server and between 90 to 100 machines connected to it, and 4 hours a day to maintain it. How does this compare to Your situation?

Three servers, 400ish users including remotes. Takes all the time I have and then some because it's only me providing support. I do everything from hardware tech to helpdesk to network admin.

30 servers (WinNT, Win2K, UNIX, Solaris, Novell) and 700 workstations (Win95, Win98, WinNT Workstation, Win2K Professional).
There are 3 level 1 techs handling the workstations, but the servers are mine and I'm also level 2 tech when need arises.
I also handle the network (switches and hubs for Ethernet and ATM).

GEE! I got it easy. 3 servers, 29 workstations. But when I'm not "busy" I get volenteered for motorpool duty, you know Driving a 8 ton Box truck to Indiana and back, that sort of thing.

I'm in a similar situation.
15 servers Almost all IBM (as400, netfinity, e-series, x series, etc), a mixed bunch of DecUnix, WinNT4.0, Win2K, RH linux 6.2.
plus all the 25 odd Printers/Plotters.
All the routers and switches / hubs (Cisco)
about 130 odd desktops and laptops.
Plus 10 wireless points.
There are two of us, I'm the Sys admin, all of the above, are My responsability, though my offsider is the HelpDesk, he handles all 300 odd users and the desktops.
Once again, overworked and underpaid.

Do you leak any fluids, do you have any bumps on your rear, do you have any unpleasant odors?
If you answered yes to any of these then you are not qualified to own a new AMD ATHLON XP.
If someone ask you if you are running the all-new fastest AMD ATHLON XP, just turn around and reply "WHY YES, AND ITS CERTIFIED"

I am a domain admin responsible for a Middle School. We have approx 200 pc and a few old Mac's (I surplus them as fast as I can). The 6 hours I am paid for is more than enough. Some days I am bored to tears other are a little exciting.
All and all not a bad job while in school.

I service multiple contracts with a wide variety in number of connections. It runs anywhere from 10 user, 1 server setups to WAN connections of 60-80 machines with multi servers, and 300+ users with multi servers.
the 300+ user network is a shared contract which I imagine would be difficult if we didnt get along with the other contractors but that isnt the case.

2 Servers (NT, 2000)
1 AS/400
7 Networked printers
about 70 Workstations
My boss handles mostly the AS/400 and all the ordering of new equipment. I pretty much do the rest.

Hmmm...
22 servers ranging from Intel to Sun.
Many switches, hubs, and routers, oh my!
800 + workstations
Wireless networking in our library and soon in the theatre (I'm not getting up 35' in the air to string cable!!!)
We have our Network Manager, Server Apps Specialist, Server Administrator and me (Network Support Technician {read: grunt}) along with 8 people for Tier I/II support.
