Need help w/ Linux Router
I hate to post in two different places, but I really need some info and have had no response on the linux boards. (But from the looks of it that is normal)
I just rebuilt my linux box and installed Mandrake 8. Now my firewall software won't work because it is written for use with IP chains. Mandrake 8 no longer supports IP chains, but uses IP Tables instead.
So, does anyone here know a good firewall that works with IP Tables in Mandrake 8????

I'm new to Mandake8 but ran across its internet connection sharing feature right away, and i believe it has firewalling options built in to it. Is there a specific reason why you need ipchains? Also, Ive had great luck in getting replies from the folks at Linuxquake's messageboards. It is primarily a gaming site, but an occasional unrelated linux question is often answered, if not completely, they at least tell you where to look, and the moderators are quite prompt, curteous and knowledgable..... Hope this helps....G

If it's just a pure router, I personally recommend <a href="http://www.smoothwall.org/" target="_blank">SmoothWall</a>
Small, good, easy, configurable... and Linux based.

I use Freesco v0.2.7 on a old Acer P75 with 16M RAM, 3com 56k ISA hardware modem, 3com 3c509 NIC, and a floppy drive (no hard drive) for my home dial up router. It fits on a floppy and was free. So far I am up to 122 days since last rebooted (when configured) and still running great. If I had a DSL or cable modem I would probably use Smoothwall or Clarkconnect.
