Post SB Live! volume is weak

I have a small problem with my SBLive. It seems I have to keep my volume controls almost all the way up on the mixer, and on the speakers to get so-so volume. I haven't had this problem with other SB's just the Live!.
    My system:

    ASUS K7V
    Athlon 750
    256 RAM
    VooDoo 5 5500
    Altec Lansing ADA880 Sub-woofer & 4 speakers

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

Is this occuring in all apps or games or one in particular? I'd check another set of speakers, which output jack you're plugged into, but sounds like possibly a bad card..We've had several Live!5.1 card sent back with several issues relating to sound quality, static in the speaker output etc...

Make sure you have the speakers plugged into the right jacks. (I've seen this before. Most common is getting the front & rear speakers mixed up. It'll work, but the volume will be funky)

1)go to radio shack buy a adapter to hook up rca cables to computer and rca cables
2)hook to aux in port on back of house radio
works fine. or go buy a sound blaster 16
sound blaster live cards use about 30watts

it was my understanding the the SB Live series was not amplified. This could explain your problem (if I am correct).

Cyber had it. I checked CL's site and guess what. Not one of the Live! cards are amplified.

    Any good audio card suggestions?

keep the card, go buy a fps1000 or 2000 speaker set, they are really cheap now, and they will sound great.

I ran my non-amplified sound card through my Yamaha Natural sound suround sound and Infinity speakers and the sound is incridible - only - well the windows ding.wav is flat out disturbing (and I'm too lazy to disable it).

Sorry i didn't keep reading. If the SBLive card is not causing problems KEEP IT! just spend about $100 (the cost of a good replacement card) and keep the true sound blaster hooked to a nice set of cambridge SoundWorks speakers and rock out to some crystal clear sound.
