Quantum/IBM drive
I've got a system in the shop which, when booting, shows a Quantum Fireball Lct 15 Hard drive installed. The bios shows the capacity as 5gb. I've fdisked, formatted and reinstalled windows with no problems but I've just looked at the Quantum website and found that the drive should be 7.5gb.
Looking at the drive I see a Quantum label showing it to be 7.5gb but there is another label, by IBM which states the drive is 5gb!
Has anyone come across this before? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
BTW the customer assumed he had a 5gb drive and is perfectly happy with it, but I'm just curious!!

Sounds like a remarked drive, if there are two labels from different mfgrs on it!! Doesn't mean much nowadays with the price of a megabyte being cheaper than a gumball!

Thanks All,
I just heard the customer bought this drive a few days ago and there was a German version of windows and IBM's software on it!!
Sounds like its been around the block a few times!
The machine goes back to him in the morning, otherwise I'd run some diagnostics on it, but like I said, he's happy, so who am I to complain.
Thanks again for your replies. If I ever get to the bottom of this I'll post it.
