Aliendyne, I need your help !!!
Aliendyne,
I had to go and see a chap from Greece today. He had two problems, Dead CD rom (Easy ) and he couldn't change from Greek to English in Word 97.
Well, Windows is in Greek, Word is in Greek. and guess what? I don't speak Greek.
He was trying to translate the error messages as they came up, but his English is very limited. I was hoping to re-install office but he's left his Greek version in Greece.
When you click the icon to switch languages you get an error message come up.
Thats it, thats all I know.
Have you any suggestions to what is going on here. Sorry it's not much to go on.
If you can't help he'll just have to send for his version of office and reintstall it !!

Paul, you said when you click the icon to switch languages you get an error message.
Do you mean when you're trying to switch to Greek keyboard on Windows?
If so, this is a problem about keyboard settings on Windows and I don't think it has to do anything with Office.
Could you copy this error message and paste it here? Don't worry. My system displays Greek fonts.
If you can't for some reason, try to remove the Greek keyboard (use the exact way, when you do it on English versions) and install it again. Choose "Greek". Then press the middle button. It's the "Properties" button. Choose "Greek". It's the first one. Don't choose anything like "Greek IBM" or "Greek Latin". Reboot the system if asked and I hope it works.
Let me know, and I'll reply as soon as possible.
Good luck.

On second thought, if the problem occurs when trying to switch language settings on Word97, probably there are some files corrupt or missing. I'm talking about the Greek Proofing files (Dictionaries and Thesaurus).
If so, I can send a utility, which corrects that files.
I'd like to see though the error message if possible.

Aliendyne,
Thanks for the reply, the icon in question is a keyboard with EN\GR next to it.
So it would seem reasonable to assume that this just changes the keyboard settings.
I'll take a laptop with me so I can compare notes if necessary.
I'll let you know if i need the utility !
Thanks again
Paul

Aliendyne,
Sorry for the delay, but because I'm mobile and the area I cover is large, I only get to where he lives once a week or so.
I 'm going to see him on thursday and will let you know from there.

Aliendyne,
That cracked it, it was the keyboard settings, the Greek files were AWOL.
Soon sorted that and we have a happy chappie (at least I think he's happy, I can't understand him )
Thanks
Paul
