RM to WAV or MP3
Hey guys, I know that this is a little out of the ordinary. I want to convert some old concerts and live comedy acts that are in RM format to either wave or Mp3 format.
Can this be done ? If so ?
Which program(s) do I need ?
thanks

I have never seen any program to convert RM files. RM files are strictly proprietary to RealMedia/RealNetworks software.

Here's my suggestion, given Green Iguana's input:
get the program called Total Recorder from http://www.download.com and use that. I haven't had much experieince with it (as in, i downloaded it but haven't gotten around to actually *using* it yet) but it's supposed to record straight from a program's audio output. So start that recording, go in to real player and hit play, and viola: instant WAV. the other option that should work is set up whatever sound recording program you might have, even if it's sound recorder the MS thing that ships with windows, and set the volume control in the taskbar to record from the wave source and mute everything else. same basic deal as total recorder.
good luck, and hope that helps some

I used a program called Streambox Ripper to do this. Converts real audio into MP3. The demo lets you convert ten files, after that you have to pay.
The newest version no longer supports RM format so you'll have to look for an older one. I think I used version 2.007

For the record you can get Streambox Ripper 2.007 from this page:

It's a little hard to find. Apparently because of a lawsuit from RealNetworks the newest versions no longer support RA and RM conversion
