    Post RJ-45 to serial connector help

    Ihave a customer that needs to link two unix boxes together through a serial link. I have the cat 5 already in place and have the RJ-45 to serial connectors...the problem is that I have no idea how to pinout the connectors. Need some help...

    can i just wire the connectors the same on both ends and make the cat 5 a crossover????

    For the RJ45 connector:
    Pin 1 Receive Data (RD)
    Pin 3 Transmit Data (TD)
    Pin 6 Signal Ground (SGND)

    For the 25-pin Serial connector:
    Pin 2 TD
    Pin 3 RD
    Pin 7 SGND

    So...one device's TD will go to the other device's RD and vice versa.

    If you have the 9-pin Serial connector:
    Pin 2 RD
    Pin 3 TD
    Pin 5 SGND
