    Post Drive Rails

    I went to a customer house to installed a CD-RW. When i opened the case i and incerted the CD-RW i realize that with that case i need drive rails. The customer can't recall the PC coming with anything like that. The rails i am looking for is for a Tiger Direct Pro 466 Case. I e-mailed tiger and haven't heard back from them yet. Does anyone know where i can get my hands to the rails. Any help would be appreicated.

    Go to google and do a search on drive rails. A lot of companies provide what you;re looking for.

    When I was at Computer Renaissance we kept a box full of all kinds of old, weird drive rails, because we never knew when we would need them. We were forever getting people coming in with ancient machines needing some bizarre old form of proprietary rails... so I recommend keeping any and all rails you ever get your hands on if you do any teching... and if you can't find the ones you are looking for, go to the local retail shops, because they may be doing the same thing.

    This may be a dumb response, but did it have a CD-ROM in it before? I cant tell you how many users think you need to keep your regular CDROM in the machine in order to 'copy cd's' They're perplexed when i explain that the best way to copy a CD is to let the software copy it to the hard drive,then copy it to the disk, and that you only ever need one CD device, unless you want DVD also, and even then you can get a single device. If possible use the rails from the old device.......

    any idea who made the case? When I can't find the rails I use Scotch Mounting Squares (heavy duty). They securely mount the cd or hard drive and if you press for about 1 minute and wait about 20 minutes they won't come off. If you need to get them off later you can use razor blade.

    I've made rails out of plexiglass strips when I didn't have the right ones , local hardware will probably give you scraps. It comes in several thicknesses so you can usually make what you need , a bit of a pain , but it works.
