    Post Need a installation control software

    Hya all;

    I'm building a certification center for my client.
    I'm looking for a software that cant take a snapshot of a station with the basics installed, (os, office suite, antivirus etc.) and then install the apps to be certified, take a second snapshot and extract a compare result of all changes made by this installation (reg entry, dlls added and/or replaced, directory created, etc.) I remember using something called InControl that did just that but I cant find it anymore.
    Oh and I need it to work with Win 98, 2k, NT and XP.
    Cost is not an issue.

    Any suggestions?

    Or do a search for inctrl5 on:
    <a href="http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/" target="_blank">http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/</a>

    I preferred 4 myself and its there as well although I had to leech it to get it as the download page didn't work directly. Hence the ftp site posting above.

    There is a component of Novell ZENworks called "snAppShot" which does exactly what you're asking. Run it, install your software, run it again, it creates a package that contains all the files and registry changes made by that program. Then you can roll it out using Netware Administrator.

    The price: FREE - it works with all Windows platforms, but only if your network is Novell Netware.

    Thanks, MAC. The prob is here (a gov outfit) they are going Tivoli (dont laugh, I'm stuck with it) and the network is NT wall to wall.

    My cotract is not to distribute ( there is a group dedicated to that and I dont care how they do it) but to take any apps to be deploy, test it on the standerdized environnement, id the modifs it made, re test and evaluate the core environnement to make sure every base function is still there and then pass the buck to deployment.

    They can package (SMS, Tivoli) do a copy by login script or burn CDs, not my call.

    That is the next contract (I hope) $$$
