Post Do I throw it out of the Window

    Oh God !!

I've just got all the parts for a customers machine.

    Gigabyte GA71XE4
    Duron 750
    128 MB PC 133
    ATI xpert 2000
    Aopen case

I've only mentioned these parts bacause the rest aren't even in it yet !

Ok,put the machine together and tried a test boot with just the bits mentioned. Nothing !

Had a poke around and could find nothing amiss so just in case, reset the BIOS.

Ok now it boots, but obviously loads bios defaults. So I power down, change the jumper and turn it on again. The thing boots, so I change the Bios setting for what I want and save and exit. Now it wont reboot. Reset the Bios again, reboot, change the settings, save. Back to dead again.

I consider memory timing could be stopping it, but the things on Automatic so no go there. Tried another 128Mb still no dice.

So, figuring the battery may be flat I put the hard drive on and install windows, except every time windows reboots it's back to resetting the BIOS. Oh God !!

Ok out with heavy artillery, Stick a diagnostic card in and it reveals it's gets stuck on decompressing the bios.

This is even before it checks for a graphics card, so it rules that out as well.

So, What's your thoughts, do I RMA the board or am I just missing something obvious.

Try flashing the BIOS with the latest revision (F7 I think). If this doesn't work then I would say the board is up the creek m8. Also try known good PC100 SDRAM as well.
