URGENT...Cannot kill spoolss.exe
My spooler on NT 4 server crapped out. I stopped the service but now cannot re-start it. I tried deleting the files in "C:\winnt\system32\spool\printers" but there are 2 files that won't let me delete them (tmp & spl extension), getting msg "...sharing violation...source or destination file may be in use". For the life of me, I cannot see where these files are attached to except the "spoolss.exe" process. I tried killing this process with the kill utility using the force (-f) option. It tells me process is killed but it is still in Task manager. I really don't want to reboot my server so if anything can be done before resorting to that, I'd appreciate it. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!!!
