Exclamation Need help making Video CDs....

I have tried and tred to get this to ork, but have no luck.

I think i am doing something wrong... this is what i would like to do..

I would like to take some music videos i have on my hard drive in mpeg and avi compressed formats, and burn them to a video cd.

I figure my problem is with the compressed files. I have tried tons of software that does the uncompression... nero included, and still no dice.

Any hints or tips would help.

Thanks
MD

You can go here and read up on it. It should help you out. As for compression, all video files with the exclusion of raw data avi files have some sort of compression on them. I'm sure that your mpg/avi files are compressed. There is a good chance that your mpg files are already in the correct format but your avi files will have to be converted. The website above should help.

Where wont it play? In your home dvd player? Make sure that it is compatible with the type of vcd that you are creating.

A lot of DVD players ( from what I understand anyway) have trouble reading the colored back ( blue/pink/etc ) cd's as opposed to the silver or gold back ones. A friend of mine sent me a VCD and it wouldn't work on my DVD player until I copied to a silver backed imation cdr. It was originally on a blue backed one. Just a thought though as I have never personally made a VCD, though I have thought about it.

GameGuru has got it right, VCDhelp is one of the more useful resources about creating VCD and SVCDs. Divx encoded AVI's will need to be converted to mpeg and have the audio uncompressed. VCDhelp has all the freeware tools and step by step guides you'll need. I use tmpenc in flask then nero 5.5X or Roxio 5.X to burn. And indeed some DVD players have trouble with certain brands of CDR's. VCDhelp's Section on DVD players and FAQ's about certain models was very helpful with my GE DVD player. DVD-Reviewer also has useful info on many DVD players, but its not as up to date as it should be.
