BIOS Flash
I am helping a small business woman with a PC problem.
AMD BIOS:
p400-001437-00101111-101094-486AVIP-H
I cannot flash the BIOS on the PC. The flash program starts and immediately gives an error. I downloaded what should be the right BIOS.
Problem CMOS cheskum error. First thought was the CMOS battery, changed that and it still wont work, added an external battery and still no luck. PC works fine as long as you don't shut it if you do it stops with the CMOS checksum error and wont start till you go into the cmos settings.
This woman cannot afford to upgrade right now she is a single monther and is running a small business off this machine. We hope this coming summer to replace this machien but in the interrum she cannot turn it off without resetting the cmos

This was all I could find on the PC Chips website.
The requirement of flashing BIOS
To flash the BIOS, you neeed the following program and BIOS code:
Latest version BIOS code
BIOS flash program
All of these two items can be downloaded from BIOS area of our web site. Check the BIOS date code to see if they are the same as before. If so, it's not necessary to flash it since BIOS does not have newer revision. Before flashing it, make sure the BIOS manufacturer and the model number of your board.
There are two kinds of BIOS Flash program as below.
AWDfl628.exe: a specified BIOS flash program for AWARD BIOS.
AMIfl807.exe :a specified BIOS flash program for AMI BIOS.
If your mainboard use AMI BIOS will be required the BIOS flash program of AMIfl807.exe. Otherwise, you need AWDfl628.exe flash program. You can find out the source from BIOS area of our web site easily.
The procedure of flashing BIOS
Below is an example of using AMI flash program to flash the BIOS.
Under Dos mode C or A , key in the name of BIOS flash program that downloaded from our web site. e.g.:C:\AMIFL807<Enter>
Being executed, the BIOS flash program will request you to give the file name and path for back up the existing BIOS. e.g.:C:\BACKUP.ROM<Enter>
After BIOS backup, key in the file name and path which to be flash programmed. e.g.:C:\0605s<Enter>
Restart the system.
Remark
If you followed and done all the flash programming procedures above, but still fail to revise the BIOS of your board, please contact your system engineer or contact us by E-mail.
An obstacle is something you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

Hello;
After you flash a Bios, all settings that are saved in the CMOS ram will be invalidated, that is why before you attempt to flash it you should enter your CMOS setup program and write down all values so after you flash it you can reset the CMOS Ram (usually through a jumper on the board ) and then after the flashing you enter setup again, update the values, correct the wrong ones, quit and save setup and let the Pc to boot. In some cases you may need to enter set up again and just qit and save to solve the problem.
Please post results and good luck
