Trouble Flashing Bios
I own a Microstar MS6119 motherboard and have a 2.4 version of bios and downloaded the 2.8 version. Followed all the instructions for it , went to dos and read all doc files and followed it. I have flashed another Microstar motherboard which had major problems and it worked perfect and fixed all the problems. Well when this one , Award bios version which is the type on the board, it started the upgrade only to show this error message as the bottom of the pop up flash box "Fail-Due to EMM386 or QEMM". Can someone tell me what this means and how i can flash my bios, or to work around this error. Thank you. Jeff

It sounds like you have a memory manager loaded while trying to flash the BIOS. It's very important that you clean boot your computer before attempting to flash the BIOS. If you have Windows 95, hit F8 when you see the message "Starting Windows 95...", then choose "Safe mode command prompt only" from the menu. In Windows 98, press and hold down the Ctrl key before you see the initial Win98 splash screen, then choose "Safe mode command prompt only" from the menu.

Please format a floppy with format a:/s and make sure it does not have AUTOEXECT.BAT or CONFIG.SYS on it, then copy your flash utility and your new BIOS to it.
Good luck.
Mac.
