Don't quite understand your question. As far as I know, you can't really port installed software, you would need the setup files to install it on her machine at college. Or is your question on how you would actually go about burning the files to a CD? Please clarify.

I suppose it is confussing.
I have her hd with all programs and data from word to emails that were saved . Can I get the contends from this hd to a cd . Though a burn cd-r. She has the word and other programs on her new hd that I put on . But we forgot some data and emails and of corse some songs she has on disk. I want to be able to get them off the old hd on to a cd then send it to her.

Well it sounds like you just need to copy all the data files and make a data cd. From what you are saying thats it. Because I am understanding all you need is emails docs and music just make a data cd. depending on the email you can copy all her prefs and what not. Now if you want to copy programs also unless they were downladed and you still have the exe files you are pretty well screwed. Or you can just make a ghost image of the original drive if its going in the same computer. That would make an exact duplicate of this drive to the other. Explain more if this doesnt answer your question explain exactly what you want very specifically. You can ever give us to much info unless its about your colon or something. X

Now that you ask , yes I have been experimenting with ghost . I have dupicated the drives but I want to selective pick files and programs from the old drive to burn to the cd I have old office 95 on it .
I need to know how to take these selective programs and files bring them to a holding source then burn to cd.
Please keep going I will get the right info soon or later

A little confused as to where you are struggling.
If you have a cd burner and software (EZ CD or NERO etc), simply copy all the files you want into one folder and then burn the folder using your burner.
Getting her emails back into outlook from the cd will be tricky for your daughter. Anything else like mp3s should work as an independent file.
Sorry if this sounds like I am treating you like an idiot, I am just unclear as to where you need help?!!?
Added LAter: By the way, don't copy system files from the windows directory. They won't do her any good. And depending on what email software she was using (outlook, netscape etc), her emails are located in different locations.

Say what?
