    Post KVM switches -- recommendations?

    I know we talked about this fairly recently, but couldn't find it in a search.

    Situation: more computers than space, so I'm planning on buying a KVM switch. I want a 4 port switch, since I'll have two systems connected permanently and one semi-permanently. Just did a quick look at CDW, and the Belkin SOHO looks interesting, since it will switch audio as well.

    Anybody have recommendations for me?

    That's exactly what I use at a clients. Works great, never had a problem in over a year and a half.

    I do like Belkin, but if you have the cash, the APEX Outlook family are really nice.

    They have a DS1800 which is an IP solution to KVM.

    Bascially you plug the KVM into the computers and then there is a console and a Cat5 Jack on the KVM. There is a client that you can run on you workstation that allows you direct access to the computer. You can even reboot, edit the BIOS, everything. Pretty Cool.

    Just depends on your budget.

    I had a Belkin Omni, 2 of them in fact. I kept getting this nasty ghosting effect on my screen. I now use my monitor's own input switching and the KVM just for mouse and keyboard. My eyes feel much better now.

    I'm surprised no one has suggested Cybex yet. I got a brand new eight switch on Ebay, and we use them at work too. I have never had a problem and they could take a bullet and still work.

    I got two Belkin Omni-View 4-ports (one at home, one at work.) Love 'em even though the plugs are a bit loose and sometimes loose connections. Gets annoying when I have to reboot a machine just because I lost mouse control.

    just pick up a cheapie from <a href="http://www.cyberguys.com" target="_blank">www.cyberguys.com</a>
    old style mechanical switches, no fancy emulation or hotkey switching, but you don't really need that
