How to upgrade Win95 to 950B, or 950C
As we all know the Windows 95 "Upgrade" CD installs the oldest version of Windows 95
(4.00.950) I know that various updates are available from Microsoft to update this older version of Win95, even on Windrivers.com. My understanding is that Service Pack 1 will update your op system to 4.00.950A. How can you update to 4.00.950B, or 4.00.950C, in one installation file. If this is not possible, what files are necessary to update to the "equivelent" of 950B?

the only way to upgrade to B or C win95 releases is to install over your existing win95 installation with the full OEM cd's, byt renaming the WIN.COM file first then running the setup off of the cd. If you want FAT32 partitions then the only way to do it is to either refdisk the drive as FAT32 or to use a third party software suchas Partition Magic ( which I do not recommend as it can damage the existing partition by rewriting the master boot record & FATs on the fly ).
I would go for the clean install every time, to make sure that no older win95a files are still being used.

Thanks for the tip! I think I might have even heard this before, but forgotten it. As you say, my preference is to FDISK, FAT32 format & perform a "clean Install". This is not always possible however. I have a client who is "geographically distant" and wants to use the Win95 Upgrade. I do have one other question though. If you re-name WIN.COM and install a newer version over top, does it save user settings, preferences, etc?

if you install over the top of the previous version it will keep the old user settings still.
