    Post cpu Fan speed

Was wondering if anyone knows how to change the speed of a cpu fan. i got new thermaltake 1U heatsinks and the fans run at 5500 RPM. I was wondering if its possible to lower the fan speed to maybe 3000 RPM.

Not without a bit of ****ing about. You need to add a resistor to the middle wire. Zalmann silent fans use a 60 Ohm.

    Why Doing such thing?
    the logic skips me...

Please explain, it's really intersting to me - I always thought that more RPM on fan is better for system coolong.

You can control your fan speed with one of these <a href="http://www.thermaltake.com/products/accessories/a1268.htm" target="_blank">simple kits from Thermaltake</a> - high, medium, and low settings.

Or you can get a baybus, with either rheostats or multi-position toggle switches to control fan speeds:

Or if you are seriously hard core, you can spend the big bucks and get a <a href="http://www.overclockers.com/articles449/" target="_blank">Digital Doc 5.</a>

went out to radio shack and bought some 68 ohm resistors. fan speed dropped down to 2500 RPM. just enough to keep heatsink cool. noise level also dropped considerably. thanks for the info guys.
