NewCom CDROM drive can't load MSOFFICE
I've tried 7 different NEWCOM cdrom drives
in at least a dozen different computers.
4 were 32x, 3 were 40x. They just cannot
load MSOFFICE '97. Fatal errors, lockups,
the works. Other brand's 40x, 36x, 24x,
16x all do the job fine. Even my 4x Mitsumi
has no problem. NewCom apparently is out of
business. Anyone out there have a similar
story or suggestion? Thanx.

I used to have this problem.but with a different CD-ROM, but it was corrected, by Going in to the control panel, system, performance, File sytem, CD-ROM and set:
No read-ahead
in this way you reduce the reading speed, assuring the data quality ( Which in my case, was the error)
: )
