    Red face Win98 IE6

I have an HP laptop w/Win98. The kid tried downloading and installing IE6. When it said to reboot he rebooted and it came up w/ an Illegal operation error for iexploer.exe when windows starts to load and wont go pass that. Safe mode does the same. Can't get into any kind of windows, tried reinstalling windows nothing; tried scanreg /restore and restored it to more then a month ago, and agian nothing. Any ideas? TIA

try retracting the iexplorer.exe from the cab files of the ie6 setup, or the win98 cd, sounds like your only option really, or when reinstalling win98 try this

    setup /nd /ntldr

this forces setup to overwrite any new system files it doesnt recognise. Good Luck
