SB Audigy wav volume
Just got a new Audigy and I love it. I just have one problem. It doesn't want to save my volume control settings and everytime I restart it jacks the wav volume all the way to the top and nearly blows my ears out. If i set the speakers to a lower volume and leave the wav volume up I get clipping in some of my games. Has anyone run into this before???
I'm running a PIII 1GH on an ASUS board (Ali chipset) 256 mb of DDR and a MSI Gforce II Titanium in WIN98SE. (Yeah, I know, Upgrade to XP)

No, upgrading to XP may be a solution but it's not an answer.
Have you tried removing and reinstalling both the drivers and the software?

Did a complete format and reinstall, same effect.

OK, you can do something else.
Check if there's an updated driver for the ALI chipset, download and install it. If the problem persists, or there isn't any newer driver, try the sound card on another PCI slot.

As always good advice. But, I just updated the bios, and checked for newer drivers from Creative labs. There are no conflicts in the device manager. And all other volume settings seem to save just fine. It's only the wav volume I'm having the trouble with. And if I turn the wav volume down it will be fine.... until I restart the machine.
I e-mailed Creative about the problem but have not heard back from them yet. I was hoping someone had already dealt with this problem and had found a solution. But I guess this is a first.

Until they respond, why don't you check MS-Knowledge Base, or www.microsoft.com to see if there's something interesting there?
Just a thought..
