Read only file
I have a client that has 2 PC with a simple coax peer/peer. Both PC's (A) and (B) have Office 2000. PC (A) will create a spreadsheet and save as normal. PC (B) opens the spreadsheet, but it is a read only designation so nothing can be changed/saved. Checked both document options and neither one is checked as read only. Any clues?

Check network assigned permissions for shared drives (folders) on "A" PC (also check same things for "B" PC). May be drive is shared as read-only.

The drive is probably shared as read only, as mentioned above, but also, make sure the file is open on only 1 pc at a time...if the file is is use on CPU A, it will be opened as read-only on CPU B!!
