Microsoft official fix extract shlwapi.dll and reboot. I should have known system reboots to desktop minus icons and an explorer exception dialog box pops up and system freezes up. My quick reinstall in which I delete all .com and .exe files from the windows folder which I have used a hundred times before worked as usual with a twist. No mouse category under device manager and something called Tape Detection shows up instead. I have never seen this problem before under 95 ,98, or 98se. System is up and running mouse and all even with no category under device manager. IRQ listing under device manager shows ? for IRQ and "No description". Throw this dog a bone I need to get out of the doghouse.
