    Post McAfee 6.0

I am running into problems installing McAfee 6.0. When you try to install it you can install all but the virus scan. I removed and reinstalled the software many time still with same results. Also now when i go to the control panal i get an error "VirusScan : Avsmcpa.dll" The specified resource language ID cannot be found in the image file.

    Thanks For the HelP!

I would just not use Mcafee. It's just messed up.

    I would either go with <a href="http://www.grisoft.com" target="_blank">AVG</a> or <a href="http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_9xnt/" target="_blank">Norton</a>.

Avg is free and in the last three years that I have used it I haven't been infected not once. Norton is pretty much an industry standard. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    From Mcafee webite : <a href="http://www.mcafeehelp.com/" target="_blank">http://www.mcafeehelp.com/</a>

Error Installing VirusScan 6.x: 'Failed to load resource dlls'
    or
Error Opening Control Panel: 'Avsynmgr failed to load resource dlls'

    Solution

To resolve this issue, you need to remove all versions of VirusScan completely from your computer.

If VirusScan and Firewall are listed in Add/Remove Programs

    Click on the Start button.
Highlight Settings then click on Control Panel. The Control Panel will then appear.
Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. The Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box will then appear.
Locate McAfee VirusScan (or just VirusScan) on the list of installed programs and single-click on it so it is highlighted.
    Click the Add/Remove button.
NOTE: If at any time you are prompted to remove shared files, answer Yes To All.
Windows will then attempt to remove McAfee VirusScan from your computer.
Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall McAfee VirusScan. During the VirusScan uninstall process, be sure to check the box for uninstalling McAfee Firewall.
If the uninstall is successful, you must restart the computer.
After removing VirusScan and Firewall from Add/Remove Programs, remove any remnants of a previous version.

    Uninstall Instructions for Windows NT/2000

Reboot your computer and reinstall VirusScan 6.
