HP LJ 5N Error 50
greetings all...
I need some information about the power supply in a HP 5N. currenty the system gives me an error 50, indicating that the fuser is not heating up. I hvae traced to broblem back teh the power supply, which dosnot give any power to the fuser.
I have found may dicussinos about HP II and III's having this condition, and I am inclined to aggree taht teh Triac in the fures cericit is gone. But all these discussions refer to a different board, and the componentnumbers dont match up, any one have a schematic for the Sony APS-50A power supple, or experience with this condition??

have you checked the support page for your printer here?
You are right, error 50 may mean a bad fuser or bad power supply. If you are not 100% sure that one or the other is bad, and as both components are rather expensive, I think it would be prudent to take your printer to a local authorized HP service center. (I'm sure there is one in Edmonton)
More info here:

If you're sure the power supply is bad and needs to be replaced, then then you'll have to purchase a new one. Power supplies aren't user-serviceable.
