Couple Questions.
I just formatted my system and got rid of the dual boot 98/xp and now just have xp.
since reloading all my software and downloads and such I relize that there were many tweaks that I had made to my system that I over looked before formatting. Can you help with the following:
1: exchanging MSN with Google in the search button of I.E. 6.0
2: properly importing my address book to Office XP's address book, (i have my addresses on disk)
3:Removing MSN Messenger completely from my system (not just disabling it)
I did try searching but htat so badly sucks
Thanks
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

To remove Messenger just type the following into the RUN box
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
To import Address book back into Outlook, click on file then Import & Export and then browse to your exported backup.
The default search engine can be changed, but I forget at present exactly how, so you will have to give me a few minutes on that one.

go to.. %systemroot%\INF\sysoc.inf
Open it, and look for the section titled "[Components]"
now you'll see several lines like so (this is just an example)
Fax=faxocm.dll,FaxOcmSetupProc,faxsetup.inf,hide,7
delete the "hide" so that it looks like..
Fax=faxocm.dll,FaxOcmSetupProc,faxsetup.inf,,7
do this for all references, save the file, now you can go to "Add/Remove programs" and choose "Setup" and you can remove any hidden application installed with Windows

thanks guys I got it solve before I could check back but I did do it the way Matridom suggested, I couldn't find the way Darren suggested.
as for changing men to google I searche dthe registry and found the line that says ie.search.msn.com and changed it to www.google.com and it works but doesn't fit the window adn it lags my system.
I think I am supposed to put something other than www.google.com
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Try this: http://www.google.com/options/index.html
I highly recommend the Google Toolbar in addition to the other registry hacks that Google has posted on their site. I don't know how I'd live without that thing anymore!

took me some digging, but i believe this is what you want.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Search Page"="http://www.google.com"
"Search Bar"="http://www.google.com/ie"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
"SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"
