    Post house-hold prog...

anyone know of a good house-hold program that would run on an old 486 or pentium 75.

Preferably a program that would control lights smoke alarms and automatic doorlocks ...ect.

What are you going to hook your lights up to. Some kind of Hardware has to come with it or else it'd be useless.

I don't know where to to get software or hardware(besides radio shack) that will play with your lights and stuff.

Search Ebay for something like "Home automation" and see if somebody is selling an older system that would work on an older PC.

    Nice avatar, BTW.

I used to sell a bunch of X10 stuff back in the mid 80's but never tried it. It must work if they are still in business after all these years....

Creeping! Finally!!!! I love it! And this site could really use a few extra court jesters right now...

Thanks for the reminder. I have a box full of X10 stuff in the closet that a fellow tech gave me eons ago. Now I have a new toy to play with. This ought to be fun.

Get the IBM Home Director - it is a PC interface device for controlling x-10 modules - you can get x-10 modules from the net (x10.com) and at Radio Shack (who also offers a x-10 remote control (plug and Power)
