Ghost Mem error
Grrr...I just tryed ghosting my HD to an image on another drive using high compression and after 475MB (just over half the data) it bombs out with a memory error.
Bah! I'm trying to make a good image so if my HD craps out again I don't have to reinstall the thing again.
Idealy I want it small enough to put on a CD so I can put it in a safe place out of the way... I guess I'll try the oter compressions

What are you using to copy the drive?

Ghost 5, I lowered to compresion to 'fast' and it went fine and was still small enough for a CD. I posted this just to vent really, it was a long day yesterday

Could be some type of bug in that version.
I use version 6 or something like that and have never had a problem (unless hardware was bad such as HD) I have used ghost for many years and have never seen a memory error. I do the same thing though on all my systems, its a major time saver when your registry gets too clumpy for reliable operation or you have some type of crash for some reason

I know Ghost 2001 lets you burn directly to CD and you can span it over multiple CD's so you don't have to worry if it will fit.. It will even let you put a a boot floppy image on it..... So you can make a bootable CD that launches ghost and starts the restore...
Life is good when your system dies and you have one of those laying around

Cool, Ghost 2001 can burn straight to CD? How does it do that, I was thinking about it earlier and realized that it would have to be able to detect the burner and initialize the drivers AND commands to do that. If that is true then I MUST get that one!
