S3 Savage

Ok, a while back I picked up an S3 Savage Extreme to replace an old 4 meg Trio card I had. I have yet to be able to get this card to work. I have a celeron 566, 128 megs pc100 Kingston ram, wd and maxtor drives, nothing special....the m/b is a soyo 6vba running the via apollo pro chipset...i've tried the card under win98, ME and 2000...no matter what o/s it locks in around 10-15 minutes...i've tried every driver version i could find, tried 1x and 2x settings...set graphics acceleration to every setting with the same result, agp aperture is 64, the card is on irq 11, not shared with anything...S3, when S3 was S3, replaced the card...so now I have 2 that do the exact same thing...i've replaced the ram about 5 x with different brands...the processor too with a celeron 500...the system isn't overclocked and heats not an issue.
the system has a voodoo 3 in it now and overclocks to 850 like a dream with that in it so i'm kind of at a loss.
really just looking for ideas or suggestions as to something i might have missed.

Might be a compatability issue with the chipset. Have you got all the latest updates for the card and the chipset? Out of curiosity, how hot does the chip on the video card get after 10 minutes. Is it possible that it is over heating? I had a similar issue with my TNT.
