CD-RW and DVD
Does anyone know of any incompatabilities with DVD players and CD-RWs in the same box? I've noticed that manufacturers will not put those two components in the same box, although they'll put either in the same box with a CD-ROM. I've asked why, and they've given me a stock answer of "hardware incompatability" which doesn't really answer my question. What specifically is the incompatability, if any? Or are they just jerking me around? (-:

I have had multiple boxes with both a dvd player and a CDR drive. Have not had any problems other than some frustrations with using DMA settings.

I have to agree with 'ghitt', except for the DMA problems. I think companies are just too cheap to do it. I know that AlienWare does, as I was reading a review in a mag.

I've run a DVD and cd burner with no problems. Been using it now for about 4 months and works great.

I just built a machine last week with Yamaha CDRW and Creative DVD. Worked like a champ!

Manufacturers will not warranty that the two will work together, but generally speaking they usually do. As a matter of fact, they are also building DVD/CD-RW drives as one unit now.

I've been running a CD-ROM, CD-R, and a DVD in my machine for almost 2 years now, without any problems.
