Need help converting a WKS file to XLS
I have two old wks files that i need converted so i can open them with Excel.
I would just recreate the files manually but i didn't make them orginally, as they were created by a friend for our AD&D campaines.
Also, i do have capy of works 8.0, but don't want to install it just for two files.
I will send them via E-mail to whoever can do this for me.
Thanks,
MD

In most cases just open the file with Excel and it will convert automatically....if it gives you an unrecognized file format message then just run your office setup again, select add/change, and install the import filter you need.

I tried what you said just incase, but as i figured, Office 2000 dosen't include a WKS converter on the CD. If there is one on the MS site, I have yet to find it.
If anyone could still offer their services to me, great thanks.
Thanks,

You may need to install the Works program.
You will need to save the files as delimited text, and then use Excel to read in the text file.

I understand that, but really don't feel like installing then uninstalling the program.
Having Office 2000, I have no need to use works.
I am just trying to get around having to do the install, by chance finding someone who could help me out.
And I would have my girlfriend do this for me, but her HP computer came with a faulty mobo, so no way i can get her to do it for me.
If anyone is still up to helping me out, feel free to send me your e-mail, so i can get you the files.
Thanks,
MD

.wks files are Lotus 123 files not just 'works'. I can't believe there aren't any converters there, Sowulu has spoken & I agree(for once!)...

Microsoft does not provide an import Excel filter for Works-WKS files later than version 2 *bah-stids!*. *for Works-WPD and Word they do*. You need to save each file out of Works manually into XLS which is a pain in the arse indeed....If anyone has any info to contradict this, I would be very very happy!

that was what i was getting at, microsoft did not add any native converters for WKS files.
I double cheacked for any downloadable from MS's site, with noe dice.
I did find a third party office plug-in, but since i only want it for two files it is pointless to buy it. And the trial version doesn't do the conversion completly in the first place, so that won't get what i want done.
Thanks,
MD
