synching outlook between two pc's

Does anyone know of any software that will sync outlook between two pc's. All the software I can find will sync between a pc and a pda, but not between two pc's.

MS uses Exmerge.exe for merging PST's from accounts between 2 different servers running MS Exchange.

Dont know of any progs that can sync PSTs off 2 PC's by themselves though.

The KB has had scads and scads of articles on this, everytime there is a new Outlook release *you'd think MS would get the hint..*, but they only offer a few work arounds though, not perfect, but workable

here is the jist
1.use an off-line store (.ost) file
2.copy the personal folder (.pst)file
3. copy only calendar, contacts and task folders

MS KB has more detail on your specific version of Outlook for how to implement these with minimal hassle. Again, not a perfect solution, but its the best way I know to do it without an Exchange svr. hope this may help.

But if anyone else has a better idea or a ut' that works please please let us know!!!

Unless you have a huge *.pst file (because you don't archive your 3 year old messages ) this is the easiest way to go.

*groan*....nothing like a nearly 2gig PST file. THAT has its own special set of problems!

Are both these computers on the same network?

The best way is to use the users Home Drive, or create one for the user on a file server, to store the PST. Then configure both PC's to use that PST as a delivery point.

The concept is that you are not using two PST's, but one in a central point.

I just set up both PST's on the new account then have them copy the folders they need from old to new in the folder view (we don't allow outlook bars). When you make the user do something manually,it helps make them decide if they really need those pieces of mail that are 3 yrs old and havent been looked at since the day they were received..........

Heres the situation. This is for a home office, this guy and his wife have there own business. He is a lobbiest and she does all the book work and research. When they get busy one of them is working at home and the other is at the state capital working off of a laptop. They are both entering items into outlook. When they get back home with the laptop they want to be able to sync the two machines. They do have a home network setup and are able to connect both machines.

Would it be easiest to have them set there palm up on both machines and just use that to sync the two machines together?

Theres a setting to syncronize folders upon exit in the mail properties in control panel, but i think it applies to offline folders, which I'm not so familiar with. Try the documentation for the version of outlook you are using, it should help....

Oh, well if you would have said most of that in your first post, we would not have tried steering you wrong with incorrect advice...

I am not sure that I can help, I have never worked out a solution for something like that.
