proprietary screwdriver
Hi,
In my spare time I volunteer doing networking and hardware repair for several non profits. I recently found a few monitors that are slightly out of focus, all IBM 8512 and 8513s.
Normally this is a simple adjustment on the inside however the top screws require some type of proprietary screwdriver. Anybody know what type of driver and know where it might be found. The lower screws are standard philips screwdriver types. IBM is no help.
Thanks,
Bruce

I think they are in the shape of a large star?? I have used allen wrenches (with a lot of work, turning side to side etc...) and managed to get them out once. Where to get it? Try looking around tool shops, tv tools?? Good Luck

You can buy a Torx screwdriver (Torx is the type in the shape of a 6-pointed star) at your local Sears for a buck or two. Buy a couple different sizes, because they come in handy for working on Compaq equipment, especially the T-15. Get yourself a T-25, T-20, T-15, T-10, and a T-8. I think the IBM monitor uses the T-20 or -25.

the monitor requires a security torx bit, torx with the center hollowed out..Jensen has them, think the size is t20 or t25.
