Y certain cd's wont work
I have a 12x creative pc dvd drive
and i have some cd-r Acer cd's (CD-r80, 700MB;16x mutil speed) gold in color, which normal files were put on for backup, for me.
My drive does not detect the cds(plural) and if it does i cant acess the information, cuz it takes forever, and hangs the system.
No other cdr or cdrw cd has every done dat befor, no matter what speed.
The cds are not scratched and are new.
Only Acer cds are giving the problem.
Someone plz tell me whats wrong.
This is serious i need that info, as it was sent from abroad.
There are about 12 acer cds, and they work fine on other computers,
and the creative drive is new

I know this isn't helpful enough, but just forget about the Acer CDs. Probably your unit cannot work with them. I would take those CDs to a friend with a CD-RW unit and burn them on a different brand CDs

I agree...different manufacturers use different grade of chemicals in the cd making process...they probably used a lower glare chemical that CD reader can't pick up. Throw them away and go with something else.

Another thing you might try is this:
But fist, did the person you got the data cd from burn it using packet writing software? If so, I had a similar problem with Windows not being able to read it. I think this is your problem. So....
Get a program called ISO Buster, from:
<a href="http://www.isobuster.com" target="_blank">www.isobuster.com</a>
This program saved my data cd's burned with packet writing. It bypasses the windows drivers, for a direct reading of the CD Rom.
Thus allowing you to see the files on the CD that won't work. Then you can transfer the files to your hard drive, and reburn them if needed. Let me know if this works for you. I think it will.
